Research Interest
With rice as the target crop, established the information management, data analysis and breeding design platform for genome level selection and design breeding.
Major Achievements
More than 7000 international rice germplasm have been introduced. Significant genetic progress has been made in rice salt tolerance, ion nutrition accumulation / toxicity, and direct seeding related traits. Phenotyping of salt tolerance in Aus and indica populations at seedling stage has been completed. Two genes related to salt tolerance have been identified through genome-wide association analysis and reverse genetics. Eight functional loci related to cadmium accumulation in grains have been located, and 12 candidate genes have been identified in these regions, in which many of them have been cloned. Many F2 populations related to cadmium accumulation used for linkage mapping have been obtained. Three candidate genes related to grain zinc accumulation and 4 candidate genes related to aluminum absorption and transport in rice were obtained. More than 1000 resequenced germplasms have been tested for mesocotyl length; 7 functional loci and 15 candidate genes related to mesocotyl development have been identified, Thirty-five F1 populations and twenty-six F2 populations used for linkage mapping were obtained.
