The China Agricultural Sector Development Report 2022 Released
On June 17, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) co-organized the 2022 China and Global Agricultural Policy Forum in Beijing. The China Agricultural Sector Development Report 2022 (CASDR) and the 2022 Global Food Policy Report (GFPR) were released by CAAS and IFPRI at the forum, respectively.
CASDR 2022 pointed out that the China's oilseed crops were in the high cost, and the competitiveness was relatively weak, total factor productivity growth was slow, and it is important to increase the investment of science and technology. The report discussed countermeasures to respond the risks faced by China's agri-food system, such as the meat consumption transformation and maize-soybean strip intercropping, as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
2022 GFPR pointed out that to achieve food security, nutrition and sustainability, it is essential to hasten innovation, reform policies, establish market incentives, and increase financing for sustainable food systems transformation, as well as promote healthy diets and build resilience.
The event was broadcast online both in Chinese and English, and more than 500 audiences watched the live broadcast.
